About WBSSC SLST
The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) organizes the State Level Selection Test (SLST) to select qualified subject teachers across government-aided secondary and higher secondary schools in West Bengal.
The recruitment consists of:
- Preliminary Test (PT): Common screening test in GK, Current Affairs, Mathematics, and Languages.
- Subject Knowledge Test: Intensive written assessment in the candidate's chosen Honours / Post-Graduate discipline.
- Evaluation of Academic & Professional Qualifications (B.Ed).
- Personality Test & Classroom Demonstration / Interview.
WBSSC SLST 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Academic & Training Qualifications
- Classes IX-X (Secondary): Honours Graduate / Post Graduate with at least 50% marks in the relevant teaching subject from a recognized university AND Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from an NCTE-recognized institution.
- Classes XI-XII (Higher Secondary): Post Graduate Degree with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject AND B.Ed.
- Relaxation: 5% marks relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled candidates.
Age Limit
- Minimum: 21 Years | Maximum: 40 Years as of 1st January.
- Upper age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, up to 45 years for PwD.
WBSSC SLST 2026 Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme
Preliminary Test (PT) - 150 Marks (90 Minutes)
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 50 Marks
- Arithmetic & Mensuration (Madhyamik Standard): 40 Marks
- English Language: 30 Marks
- First Language (Bengali / Urdu / Hindi / Nepali): 30 Marks
Subject Written Test - 100 Marks (90 Minutes)
Objective questions strictly covering the graduate/post-graduate curriculum of the applied subject (Bengali, English, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Science).
